Today I made a short video to give you a brief overview on why search engines don’t like Flash websites. If you have a website and just can’t find it in the search engines one problem for your SEO could be that it is programmed in Flash.
Flash is a web design tool, that allows a lot of creative effects and interactivity. Unfortunately it hides the code of the website in a Flash file, so Google and other search engines can’t read it. It is very difficult to get a Flash website ranked high in the search engines unless you build a lot of quality links into the site or develop complicated workarounds. For most small businesses this is not worth the effort and cost.
If you have a Flash website I recommend to talk to your web designer about redesigning the site in html and keep the design as intact as possible. Usually there are ways to combine html and Flash, so that you can feature interactivity on your site, while making the search engines happy as well.
